March 2023 Newsletter
The UCI Masters Track World Championships will return to the Manchester Velodrome, Britain’s national Cycling Centre with competition taking place over 8 days from Saturday September 30th through to Saturday October 7th.
This web site is now open for competitors’ entries with a closing date of September 3rd but please enter as soon as possible so that we can finalise our planning of events. All being well we will use the 2019 schedule which can be found in the riders’ instructions on the web site.
Spectator tickets will also go on sale again via this web site on March 1st. These can also be purchased at the reception counter in the velodrome.
The web site also has information on transport and hotel bookings. We have been able to reserve a small number of beds for competitors in the event hotel, Holiday Inn Oldham, from where transport to and from the velodrome will be available. Other rooms may be available via the internet hotel search sites. Transport from and back to Manchester Airport can also be arranged via the information on the web site.
Plans for live streaming have now been made with extra cameras bringing better worldwide coverage. A link for this will be published when available.
Our officials are all in place and we are pleased to welcome back to Manchester Hans-Christian Lykkegaard from Denmark as the UCI Commissaire President.
Applications for Volunteer positions are now open and close on August 6th but please apply as soon as possible so that we can finalise our plans for the championships.
The one year long velodrome refurbishment will bring some major changes to the venue with new seating, lighting, timing and scoreboard, catering, changing rooms, showers, and other facilities.
We will continue to update you, but in the meantime may I wish you all an enjoyable year and we look forward to seeing you in Manchester in September.
