World Masters Track Cycling Championships 2016
Welcome to the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Masters Championship Web Site.
This year will be the last time for a while that the championships are being held in the Manchester Velodrome at the National Cycling Centre as the event moves to Los Angeles in the USA for 2017 and 2018.
We hope that all the competitors who have enjoyed the last 5 years and the initial 12 events in Manchester from 1995 to 2006 will come back to make this 22nd championship the best and most well attended event ever.
The Championships will be held from Saturday, October 1st to Saturday, October 8th and the dates have now been approved by both the UCI and British Cycling.
The draft racing schedule has now been added to the site and can be viewed HERE as well as in the rider and spectator information pages. This draft schedule is always subject to amendment if necessary.
The coverage of the 2015 Championships on You Tube was very successful and we are planning on repeating this. The 2015 coverage can still be seen by clicking HERE
The age qualification system for the Team Sprint and Team Pursuitwill again be an age group system with the Men’s Team Sprint and Team Pursuit being split in to 10 year age groups, 35-44, 45-54, 55+ This may be further expanded should entries be sufficient as at least 6 teams in each age group will be required. The women’s Team Sprint will again be an official championship and remains as an open age event as will the Women’s Team Pursuit.
The online entry system is now live and we look forward to seeing your entries and of course to seeing you all in Manchester in October. Entry fees remain unchanged from 2015.
Once again we are able to offer discounted prices at out hotel partners Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express which we hope you will take advantage of when entering. Our official transport system will again operate from these hotels.
Please pre-book as much as possible with your on line entry, especially your hotel with our on line partners Holiday Inn, your transport needs, preferred training session on Saturday October 1st, Helpers Passes and Spectator Tickets. Adding these in later is always a bit difficult. Training sessions prior to October 1st are under the control of the velodrome and enquiries should be made to email@example.com
We look forward to another successful week of championships and some spectacular racing and your own personal achievements.
