 1  General
The European Masters Track Championships will be conducted in accordance with the General Regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale except where herein provided. The UCI General Regulations concerning cycles shall also apply.

2  Age Categories
The European Masters Track Championships will be organised for the following age categories:
  Men
30-34 years
35-39 years
40-44 years
45-49 years
50-54 years
55-59 years
60-64 years
65 to 69 years
70 years+
Women
30 to 39 years
40 to 49 years
50 years and older

  
In all cases, the age of the competitor shall be determined by the actual age on 31st December of the current year.
 3.1  Disciplines and Technical Regulations
3.1.1  Sprint
All ages will compete over 750 metres.
The competition will be organised in two parts – 200m flying time trial (used for seeding purposes only) and sprint matches proper. All riders will qualify for the first round proper. The General principle shall be that every rider shall be beaten at least twice before elimination from the competition. The Commissaires shall organise heats and repechages to achieve this.
The Sprint Matches shall consist of preliminary rounds, repechages, semi-finals and finals.
3.1.2  Pursuit
Distances - Men - 30 to 34 yrs / 35 to 39 yrs / 40 to 44 yrs and 45 to 49 yrs - 3000 metres. All other age groups will compete over 2000 metres
Women - all ages will compete over 2000 metres
A qualification round shall be held to establish the four fastest riders in each category.
The two riders who record the fastest time in the qualifying round shall contest the match for 1st and 2nd places. The riders who record the next two fastest times shall contest the match for 3rd and 4th places.
3.1.3 Time Trial
Men will compete over the following distances -
30 to 34 years and 35 to 39 years - 1000metres
40 to 44 years and 45 to 49 years - 750 metres
All other age groups - 500 metres
Women - all ages will compete over 500 metres
In all cases the Commissaires shall arrange two riders to take to the track at the same time whenever possible.
3.1.4 Points Race
 • Sprints shall take place every 10 laps.
 • For races of a distance of 20km and more - twenty points (20pts) will be awarded for a lap gained
 • For races of a distance of less than 20km - ten points (10 pts) will be awarded for a lap gained
 • Heats will be run where necessary on the morning of the day of the scheduled final when the number of entrants exceeds the maximum permitted by the regulations for a straight final.

3.2 Disciplines and Technical Regulations - Team
Team Sprint
Teams shall register 3 riders only for the Team Sprint - All three riders must be of the same Nationality. The only exception to this will be where there are only one or two men entered from that nation in the whole Championships and then they will be allowed to form a team with competitors in a similar situation.
There will be two Championships
 • Open - Any three Masters
 • 135 years and Over - Any three Masters with a combined age of 135 years or more
 4 Combining Championships
 • Should insufficient riders enter for a discipline in any age category the Commissaires shall have the right to combine age
   categories into a single Championship
 • The minimum numbers required for any discipline in any category will be 6 riders.
 5 Entry Eligibility
The European Masters Track Cycling Championships are open to all riders whose Nationality or place of birth is of European origin. Riders who hold dual Nationality can compete provided they can provide evidence of their European origins. (eg Passport of a European Nation) irespective of the UCI coding on their racing licence.
In such circumstances riders who wish to compete but are unsure of their eligibility should check with the Masters organisation prior to entry.
The Masters Organisation will not be held responsible for riders who fail to check their eligibility prior to entrering the championships.
Individual entries will be accepted from riders within the Masters Age Categories with the following exceptions
 • Those who have competed in track competitions within World Championships, Olympic Games, Continental Games,    Continental Championships, Regional Games, Commonwealth Games or World Cups in the previous season and the current     year, except for the races that are open to masters only.
 • Those members of a UCI registered team in the previous season and the current year.
 • Is under suspension from the UCI or any National Federation affiliated to the UCI
 
(please note - previous season relates to 2007/08 track season which started on March 28th 2007 and finished April 1st 2008)
 6 Race Clothing
All riders shall compete exclusively in the name of their Nation.
Riders may compete in their National jersey, club jersey or a plain jersey.
 7 Licences
All riders who compete in the European Masters Track Championships shall be holders of an annual licence issued by a National Federation affiliated to the UCI that is endorsed for International Competition. For the exact ruling please see www.uci.ch
As per UCI regulations Chapter 1.
As a guide you should obtain a licence from your own UCI recognised Cycling Federation that has a UCI code shown on the licence that shows the country code and 8 numbers
 8 Entry Fees
8.1 Entry fees must be paid in full by UK Bank Cheques, banker's draft or the relevant Visa, Mastercard, or Switch payments and must be paid in UK Sterling.
8.2 The entry fee will be £35 for the first individual event entered and £25 for each additional event as long as the entry is received by the closing date for pre registration (i.e. one event £35– two events £60– three events £85– four events £110)
8.3 The entry fee will include all applicable levies
8.4
8.4.1 The closing date for pre registration is 30th June 2008
8.4.2 If entry registration is received after the pre registration closing date or on the day of competition then a one off fee of £30 will be charged in addition to any other fees due. (Acceptance of any late registration will be conditional of space in relevant race/s being available)
8.4.3 Extra events may be entered after the pre registration closing date (if you have already registered and entered another event prior to this date) for the normal entry fees -ie £25 per event (conditional of space in relevant race being available).
8.5
8.5.1 Entry fee to the Team Sprint will be £45 per team, which can be paid and entered any time up to 24 hours before the relevant event taking place. Anyone pre-entering a team may change the composition of the team up to the entry deadline.
8.5.2 Any team member not registered as an individual entry may be subject to any relevant costs previously stated (- i.e. in addition to Team Sprint entry fee, any rider not registered will pay £10 registration fee)
8.6 All fees are in Pounds Sterling
 9 Decisions
The decision of the panel of EUC Commissaires is final.
 10 Victory Ceremony

• The first three riders or teams placed in each Championship shall be available at the time required by the organisers for the
   Victory Ceremony.
• Riders must bring a cycle with them for their lap of honour, which will take place immediately after the ceremony
• The winner(s) of each Championship shall be awarded a European Masters Track Champion’s jersey and a gold medal
   In addition the 2nd and 3rd placed riders shall receive a silver and bronze medal respectively
• The National Anthem of the Champions country shall be played during the Victory Ceremony
• Where the Team Sprint winners are of mixed nationality there will be no National Anthem (the UCI anthem will be played) and
   the flags displayed will be those of the 3 gold medals.

 11 Anti-Doping Control
The anti doping Commission of the UCI may designate an Anti Doping Inspector and Doctor for the European Masters. Riders required to submit to anti doping control shall be determined by the UCI Anti Doping Regulations, the UEC Track Commission, the UCI Anti Doping Inspector, the Doctor or otherwise.
 12 Extra Mens Events (Non Championship Events)
12.1 Brian Cossavella Memorial Race - This10-mile scratch race will be the final event of the Championship week. Introduced for the first time this year it will be a fitting tribute to World Masters organiser Brian Cossavella whose untimely death early in 2008 was a sad day for all of his cycling friends.  Selection will be made from Masters invited to ride or who have shown an expression of interest to ride.
12.2 There will be an 8km scratch race will once again be run on the last day of the Championships. Sponsor to be confirmed.
12.3 A further race (5km) for riders over 60 years of age will take place on the first day of the Championships. Again sponsor to be confirmed.
12.4 For all the above extra non Championship races please inform the sign on desk during the week (or let us know when entering) - there are no entry fees for these extra races.
 13 Official Training Sessions
13.1 There will be Official Training sessions for Masters riders entered in the Championships on Sunday 27th July. These sessions will be limited to 40 riders in each session and initially there will be 4 sessions during the day. Each Session must be pre booked and pre paid so that all the necessary paperwork can be completed before the start of each session and you will be required to sign in with the Commissaire in charge and show your licence before you take to the track. The charge for each session on this Sunday will be £5 per person per session and will include all facilities including paramedic cover.

Extra sessions may be added when these are filled. There may be times when teams can book the track for themselves and this must be done through the organisers and pre paid.

13.2 Each day prior to racing there will be an official warm up allowed on the track 90 minutes prior to racing in each morning session (first 30 minutes for riders not competing that day - the last 60 minutes for those competing that day). On the evening (finals) session (except the first and last days when warm up will only be for riders in that session), warm up will be run for 90 minutes prior to racing (first 30 minutes for riders not competing that day - the last 60 minutes for those competing that day).
13.3 When the track is officially closed it is forbidden for any rider to ride the track - to do so may result in exclusion from the Championships.
 14  Best Rider Awards

A special award will be made to the best male and best female riders of the Championships. All entrants will be eligible and will be awarded on the basis of individual performances during the Championships.
