2010 masters news

trackManchester Velodrome was opened in 1994 as part of the city' s bid to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Before the venue has been built, news was announced that the Games were going instead to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. This did not deter Manchester City Council from proceeding with Great Britains first world class roofed velodrome. Since then it has hosted all 12 World Masters Track Championships, the 1996, 2000 and 2010 World Championships and World Cup rounds and Paralympics.
There is ample free parking at the stadium unless this is limted if there are any football matches at the nearby Manchester City Ground . If this is the case we will advise you of the procedure for easy access
The track is made of Siberian Pine and is 250 metres long, with a banking of 42%, and was resurfaced in 2007. There are starting gates in operation for the Tme Trial, Individual Pursuit, and Team Sprint. If you wish to practise starts with them, these will be available at the end of each off all the official training sessions on the day prior to the Championships.
