Riders and Helpers Accreditation
  • Accreditation will be required to gain access to the riders' areas at the Velodrome.
  • Each Competitor will automatically receive an accreditation badge for their self. This will be available at the Rider Entrance Reception from the day prior to competition commencing and throughout the Championships. (These badges will be needed at all times from Tuesday 27th July to the end of the Championships).
  • Any rider who wishes to have accreditation badges for any of their back up staff (e.g. helpers, supporters mechanics etc) must apply for these passes and make payment before 27th July 2010. The charge for each helpers accreditation will be £30 per badge and this will allow them access for the whole of the Championships. Please note that these badges will be in packets attached to your rider accreditation packet and each rider is responsible for distributing these badges to their back up team before they can gain access to the Velodrome.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT NO EXTRA PASSES WILL BE ISSUED DURING THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (except for replacement passes for lost or mislaid passes and these will be charged at £30 per pass - SO PLEASE LOOK AFTER THEM.
  • Accreditation is aimed at helping you as competitors to enjoy the Championships and only have bona fide people in the riders' areas and thus helping to safeguard equipment etc.
  • Random security checks will be made throughout the Championships.
Discounted Riders Spectator Tickets
Each rider will be able to obtain discounted spectator tickets for their supporters for the whole Championships at a reduced rate of £20 - this will only be available by advance purchase - PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE TICKETS WILL NOT ALLOW ADMISSION INTO THE RIDER AREAS OR THE TRACK CENTRE. These tickets are only available to riders for tickets booked and paid for prior to the Championships commencing.
Rider Registration
Once you have obtained your accreditation you will then need to register yourself. This will commence in the Championship Office in the Velodrome from 1pm on Monday 26th July. You will then be able to confirm the events you have entered, show your race licence and collect your race numbers, event information and other items such as souvenir clothing etc. You can register any time during the week of the Championships before you commence racing. (As a guide the office will be open from the commencement of track warm up each morning to 8.30pm each evening)
Event Sign On
You must sign the start sheet for each first round of a Championships event (including ALL non championship events). Sign on for each event will close approximately between 60 and 90 minutes before each Championship race commences and these times will be displayed on the notice board adjacent to the sign on table. The sign on table is situated in the centre of the track (close to the riders entrance). It is here that you will find all details of the Championships (results, heat make ups etc.)
Manchester Velodrome
textThe Velodrome was opened in 1994 and has hosted 12 of the World Masters Track Championships. There is ample free parking at the stadium. (This may be limited if there are any football matches at the nearby Manchester City Football Ground and if these are scheduled we will advise the procedure for your easy access)
The track is made of Siberian Pine and is 250 metres and has a banking of 42%. The track was resurfaced in 2007. There are starting gates in operation for the individual time trial, pursuit and team sprint - if you wish to practice starts with them these will be available at the end of each of all of the official training sessions on the day prior to the Championships.
Other details about the Velodrome can be found on the website www.manchestervelodrome.com or telephone 0161 223 2244
