Birkmyre

Despite the fact that the low entry in the event meant only 2 medals could be awarded, Alison Chisholm proved the Womens 35-39 500mm Time Trial was not lacking class when she broke her own 12 month old European Masters Best Time by half a second on the second day of competition.
With Masters regular Petra Kluender of Germany not riding this year, Finlands Arja Scarsbrook stepped up to the mark to take Gold.

In the Mens 70+ category, Great Britains Roland Crayford, missing last year, went back 2 years to regain the Time Trial title from last years winner Peter Tranberg of Denmark who took the Silver.

The days highlight though was undoubtably the Mens 40-44 and 45-49 Sprint competitons as France's Achen Aggar won a hard fought Gold over John McClelland and Philipe Vernet, also of France who took the Gold over John Saysell of Great Britain as both finals went to 3 riders.
In the 65-69 Mens Sprint, evergreen Geoff Cooke again outclassed the field and Graziano Pantosti abley replaced the absent Gérard Louis Robert to take the 60-64 title.
With the loss of the younger age groups, the Mens 35-39 Sprint was another hotly contested affair, with 2009 winner McClelland moving up a category, Silver medalist Lee Povey injured and German Olaf Schnaar riding, but short of form. Neil Campbell reduced the 2008 European Best Time by Lee Povey of 11.727 to 11.256 on his way to Gold.
Adam Welch and Marlon Moncrieffe made the podium an all GB affair. France's Phillipe Vernet replied likewise in the 45-49's, reducing his own year old mark by 0.14 also on his way to Gold.
Alison Chisholm provided the day with its third Best Time as she took nearly half a second from here own time last year of 37.904 in the Women's Time Trial. Debbie Capewell also took 0.07 seconds from Patrizia Spadaccini's 2008 time to record 40.456 on her way to Silver in the combined category.
